I\’m A Loser But You\’re A Winner

Posted by: admin    in Outdoor Syndication

Dicks Sporting Goods

This morning at 4:00 am I heard BEEP BEEP BEEP.  It was our alarm clock going off after my husband left for work.  And can I just ask what other husbands shower and leave for work before their alarm clock goes off?  Mine is probably the only one.

Well because of this and very little coffee, I totally failed my blog and my readers.  My Dick\’s Sporting Goods winner was announced bright and early this morning.  Except, I wasn\’t suppose to announce my winner until tomorrow morning.

So guess what?  I am selecting another winner tomorrow morning.

Are you confused?  I\’m confusing myself.

Did I mention 4 nights this week my dog has needed to potty at 2 am?  I\’m in lala land.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for the winner and also follow @dickssportcmo on Twitter for an additional chance to be on their starting lineup as mentioned in my post the other day.

Have a great night all … I\’m taking a hot shower and heading to bed.  As soon as I let the dog out and unplug the alarm.

The Perfect Bow For The Hunter\’s Wife

Posted by: admin    in Outdoor Syndication

I finally found the perfect bow for me – The Hunter\’s Wife.

This is Samantha.  Or “Sister of the bow” as Hawk would call her.

Samantha sent me this picture of herself dressed as cupid totin\’ her Cabelas Marshmallow Bow. In her email she let me know this is how she dressed for Halloween.

I\’m not about to ask if this is how she dressed for Valentines Day as well.

That stuff\’s private.

But I think it\’s adorable.

Samantha purchased one of the Cabelas Marshmallow Bows to complete her outfit.  She also mentioned that bow can whip out the marshmallows.

And for someone like me;

  1. That doesn\’t own a bow
  2. That might shoot her eye out
  3. That might shoot her toe off

I think this would be a very safe option for my first bow purchase.  It\’s perfect for the non-totin\’ – non-packin\’ – accident prone – kind of hunter\’s wife.  And like Samantha, I just might wear heels as well.

Have a wonderful weekend all … but before I end my post, do you think you all can let me know how to get sticky gooey marshmallowie stuff out of my hair?

Just in case.

And for all of your wonderful suggestions or if you\’d like just agree that would happen or just make fun of me … I\’m giving away 3 of these cute key chains …

One to Samantha for letting me share her cupid love photo and one to two readers selected randomly.

Thank you all!

Thompson Targets Giveaway

Posted by: admin    in Outdoor Syndication

This post is sponsored by the wonderful folks at: Thompson Targets

I was offered the opportunity to review and giveaway, to one of my readers, a target from Thompson Targets. Since I\’m not the one that packs heat around here, my husband and his friend Troy, aka The Rootin\’ Tootin\’ Fisherman, had a chance to shoot em up. If I didn\’t live in the city and I wasn\’t afraid to venture out to the woods or hunting properties, I could have been the one smacking targets. But instead, Mark and Troy had a little fun this weekend.

Before the damage …

After the damage …

The Rootin\’ Tootin\’ Fisherman, Troy, and his 22 rifle…

Target practice

The giveaway:
I am giving away the CS-35 – the CS-35 Centerfire

Description from their website:  The CS-35 Centerfire Spinner Target is a popular, two-disc spinning target for “big bore” pistol shooters.  It provides the shooter with a choice between the upper 3″ target and lower 5″ target.  The CS-35 is designed for use with Centerfire handguns up to .44 Magnum and provides shooting action you can easily see (spins when hit) and hear!  The heavy-duty steel frame provides years of trouble free practice and many outings of fun with family and friends. Portable and easy to use spinning targets mean no more knocked down targets to reset. A foot rest makes it easy to push targets into the hardest ground.

To enter please answer the following question:

If you won the CS-35 target, who would you give it to?

Maybe you will keep it for yourself, give it to your kids, or give it to your sister because she\’s the one that packs heat in your family.  And it is Christmas time and this would make the perfect gift.

The winner will be selected randomly and the contest will run from today, December 14, 2009 – Tuesday, December 15, 2009. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, December 16, 2009. The winner must claim their prize within 48 hours or a new winner will be selected. US residents only please.

(I can not guarantee that it will be there in time for Christmas.  The product will ship directly from Thomspon Targets and we all know that mail carriers are working as fast as they can this time of year.)

Good luck!!!

Would you look at these cute little critters…

critters

They are about to go on my wall just as soon as I find the perfect frames. I found this photo at Stacey Huston\’s photography site, Stacey Huston\’s Photos, and thought it was the perfect picture for my dining room wall.

Because … well … we decorate with critters around here.

What was nice about working with Stacey is that the original picture is the one on the left.  I asked Stacey if I could get the same picture; one facing left and one facing right.  And with a click of a flip, I was able to get two adorable critter pictures.

And I\’d like to mention that I took the above picture myself.  (Note: the flash shine there in the center.) Yes, I need a photography class.  You will never see my pictures on the cover of any outdoor magazine like Staceys.

On to the giveaway:

Stacey is offering one of my readers the chance to win one of these beautiful photos…

This one she called Willows

And this one she didn\’t have a name on it.  Darn her.  If I knew my critters, I could tell you these are bull elks or cow elks or horse elks.  But I don\’t know my critters. For the love of a critter identification class, I\’m not sure those are even elk.

If you\’d prefer one of the chipmunk pictures instead, we can make that happen.

To enter answer the following question:

Do you have a critter room in your house?

Maybe it\’s your basement, or your gun room, or your library, or critters have taken over your house in all rooms, like mine. For the love of bathroom privacy.

  • The winner will be selected randomly and the contest will run from today, December 7, 2009 – Thursday, December 10, 2009. The winner will be announced on Friday, December 11, 2009. An e-mail notification will be sent and the winner must claim their prize within 48 hours or a new winner will be selected. US residents only please.

If you\’d like to see more of Stacey\’s photography, you can visit at – A Focus in the Wild – Photo a day project. Or Stacey Huston\’s Photos page.

And if you\’re looking for a unique gift for the outdoors person on your gift list, Stacey\’s wildlife photography is absolutely beautiful!

Thanks Stacey and good luck all!
